Translated by Waymar Royce
The announcement of the Dark Sword dates some days ago; it was about the release of three other miniatures dedicated to the characters who populate Westeros and the lands beyond the Wall.
To be exact, there were shown the preparatory figures, produced in green stuff, of Theon Greyjoy, of an old knight and a kind of young fighter with a sword and a dagger, plus a bow on his shoulders, as you can also see in the pictures here under.
(all the pictures are copyright Darksword)
These sculptures are far different from the others yet released, principally for the reason that they were not manufactured by the skilful hands of Tom Meir, but by Jeff Grace, so that they weren't included in the second wave announced by the publisher. As it appears, Tom Meir is working on the missing characters, like Ser Gregor Clegane, the Mountain that Rides, Tyrion Lannister the Imp, The Red Viper Prince Oberyn Martell, the Young Wolf Robb Stark, Brienne the Maid of Thart, two Lannister guards (different one from each other), and two ladies from the Lannister court.
The news concerning another sculptor, published at the same time with the last release of the “lesser characters”, dedicated to the Wildlings and some Golden Cloaks, at first sight could be left unnoticed, but it has probably two different meanings; the first it's that these series are bearing large incomes, the second it's that we should begin to suspect that they want to “strike when the iron is hot”: in fact, as many of us could notice, the two hedge knights, and especially the second one, are vaguely related to the ASoIaF saga.
Update of 17/03/2009
It was published today the last update of the website, showing one of the Meir's works: the artist doesn't let down his good name and gives us a miniature of Tyrion Lannister (always in green stuff, a prototype then). This is instead an excellent craftwork as it's shown in the pictures of this link: Tyrion Lannister miniature
or also this photo:
This is the link to the DarkSword Miniatures
and this one is the direct link to the series dedicated to George Martin
